Laser Capture Microdissection (LCM) System

Challenge : LCM System Rapid Development

Standard Biotools (formerly Fluidigm) sought to introduce a competitive product to Thermo Fisher Scientific Laser Capture Microdissection (LCM) System. This system allows researchers to quickly and easily capture spatial biology insights and unlock unique molecular signatures down to the single-cell level.  The objective was to build a similar solution in 120 days to meet and aggressive product announcement deadline.

Solution : Acculift Spatial Profiler System

In 120 days the Opexa team was able to:

  1. Build and integrate the Laster Microdissection System stage, housing, microscope, IR laser and UV laser.
  2. Two lasers were sourced for sample viewing, marking and microdissection using the IR and UV lasers.
  3. Software was developed from scratch to control the stage and focus of the microscope
  4. Software was developed to perform IR laser capture of single or small groups of cells and UV dissection of tissue for slide studies.
  5. User interface was designed to be simple and intuitive

Acculift™ Spatial Profiler System is the next generation system in laser capture microdissection (LCM).

Researchers are able to quickly and easily capture spatial biology insights and unlock unique molecular signatures down to the single-cell level.

The Acculift™ Spatial Profiler offers cloud-based software for remote viewing and sharing of tissue slide images and a suite of annotation, image analysis and comprehensive analytical tools to analyze LCM generated data.
